In 1953 what is the microscopical appearence of that orange dots? Should it be spores like in Endogone, or Glomus flavisporum?

Hello Bkaounas,
i can think only that:
you write " hypogeous in Cistus creticum ", "hypogeous in Abies cephalonica " .Does this mean that 1) they were attached/ grown into the roots of the plants or 2)that you have found her underground free?
In the first case they could be also galls produced from nematods, although their aspect, in my small opinion, doesn't convince me. In the second case, no galls.
I don't have sufficient knowledges of Zygomycetes, but the idea of Mario seems me good.

Re: strange ipogei
No. 1953 no Stephanospora caroticolor ?
Current Name:
Stephanospora caroticolor (Berk.) Pat. [as 'carotaecolor'], Bull. Soc. mycol. Fr. 30(3): 349 (1914)
Synonymy:
Hydnangium caroticolor Berk. [as 'carotæcolor'], Ann. Mag. nat. Hist., Ser. 1 13: 351 (1844)
Octaviania caroticolor (Berk.) Corda [as 'carotaecolor'], Icon. fung. (Prague) 6: 36 (1854)
O Glomus flavisporum http://space.comune.re.it/micologico/XX ... .htm#Monte ?
Se è la "caroticolor" è veramente perfida... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aryl_radical
The mushroom Stephanospora caroticolor is suspected to generate an aryl radical as part of its biological chemical defence mechanism.".
Non ho capito bene cosa significhi ma sarà sicuramente una cosa brutta !

Re: strange ipogei
The No 1953, believe it fits Endogone, I have found many Glomus that I send to Mr. Janusz Blaszkowski for molecular analysis and waited all summer for the first results.
To any form of spores did not see fit to Glomus.
The Stephanospora I have not found whenever I do not know how can be in some stage of development, but I thought that it is not Stephanospora.
Patty, when I tell , I found ipogei in these forest species, I mean the second case (that you have found her underground free).
Thanks for the interest

Re: strange ipogei

Re: strange ipogei
microscopy...
the Endogone pisiformis I see a photo in the literature is not like mine, but the literature has found among sphagna.
I have found underground in the humus of Cistus monspeliensis, in forest with Pinus halepensis.
To Funghi ipogei d Europa, states that can be found in the humus of deciduous or coniferous trees.
What about all these ???

The samples No 416 were tested in Spain and told me it Caloscypha sp. anamorph.
Was made molecular analysis (ITS and nLSU DNA).
Keep in mind what is meant anamorph ?

Re: strange ipogei
Anamorph is the asexuate phase of life present in many fungi. In that phase there is no production of asci or basidia, but it can be however some kind of "spores" (mainly conidia), that are not sexuate spores, but simply fragments of hyphae with thickened walls, or also more similar to the real spores (where structures like conidiopohores are present).

Re: strange ipogei
So n° 416 may well be the sclerotia of Caloscypha fulgens that fruits under Abies... That may be the simpliest solution! Many apothecia of ascomycetes arise from a sclerotium, that is easily overlooked...
Bravo however!
